What a disaster today was.
Today was my official first day of uni- I have been into uni before to get my student ID card and for workshops which I registered for as a mature aged student.
First of all the bus was ABSOLUTELY packed- check out this photo to see just how many peope there were:

When I got to the university I went to find my classroom. When I got there I discovered it had been moved and a new room number was posted on the door. However, I was shocked and confused to discover that when I went to the building that was posted this room didn't exist!!!!
I went to the first years stand to ask for advice on what I should do, telling them my predicament. One of the guys came with me to help me find my class.
He had the same problem- the room just didn't exist. By this stage I had been backwards and forwards three times. I was getting very stressed out. I mean I can understand that they would change classrooms but why on the first day of uni when first years are stressed out as it is?
This guy managed to bring a smile on my face. I first noticed him when I went into the uni. I took out my phone to take a photo of him. He then said "this is going onto facebook isn't it?" At my laughed he posed for me

I told him I had been scared when I had seen him as he had taken me by surprise. I told him I was used to tall people with brothers over 2m- just not his height

Here are the photos:

On my final time to the building of the non existant classroom the guy who was with me told me he would go back to the original building to find out what was going on. While he was gone the rest of my tutorial group came over to the building where I was. I told them about what I had been through so far that morning. They told me that they realised something was up when they had waited at the other classroom and noone had shown up. I told them how the guy had gone to find out what was going on.
When he came back he said that we were supposed to be in a room in the building we were in- however, the lights were off and the door was locked. He asked us if anyone had a laptop. I suggested we phone the head of the unit and he said that was what he wanted to do.
Not too long afterwards we were told that the tutorial had been cancelled!!! Talk about a disastrous morning!!
I went off with my new found friends and we had a chat while we waited for our next lecture.
A lot of the students were in a lot of the same classes as me. However, I know from orientation last week that there are only 44 students doing my course. Out of those 44 students only one is a male

I was happy to discover that I had my newfound teacher for my lecture in the afternoon. I had emailed him earlier because I had realised that there was a clash in my timetable. He had told me to go back on the website because new times had opened up. He signed off with his name (including his title of DR) but then in brackets told me to just call him James.
I realised I would like him when I went onto the UWS website and for podcasts for the unit he had written (listen to my soothing voice)

I knew then that he was going to be a character!!!
Boy was I right about him being a character. He referred to himself as the wog lecturer

He says that he is vegetarian but his mother considers that to be lasagne and she would still cook him lamb- I immediately said "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" people heard me and laughed.
At one point James stood on his desk and reached up to point something out on the projection screen

I don't think I have ever seen a teacher do that in my entire life.
He introduced a new topic and said that we should all be impressed by it and go "ooooooooh." Therefore he went back to the previous page of the slide show and then brought up the next page. We all went "oooooooooohhhhh."

It was the fastest hour of my entire study life. I know that I will enjoy these sessions.
At the end of the lecture I went to the Book Shop with one of my newfound friends. She needed to buy books for the course. I was very worried last week to discover that my books for first semester are going to cost me $400!!!!!
She gave me a list of the books I needed to buy and as she had another tutorial that afternoon we said goodbye and said that we would see one another tomorrow.
I had to rush home because I had been unable to find my keys this morning. Yunlong had phoned me while I was on my way to the uni to tell me to phone him when I got to Blacktown and he would come and let me in.
I am so exhausted!!! What a day!!!!
