Marlene talking about your mum and the going into a home reminds of somthing wanted to share for a while . Our very closest family freind...Teddy ---more like a grandad or santa clause type uncle had to go into a home last year too. It was very sad to hear him loosing his sharpness of brilliant mind ( was a top scientist)( btw no dementia just getting old) leave his own home and live in what they call the' rabbit hutch' In all truth it maybe is for the 'best' as as his son isnt really into caring for him at home. Yet Its sad . the whole fading away thing . The thing he dislikes the most having to be in the home...is that well hes a very differnt chacter and simply doesnt fit in with typical oldies home life he loathes the food as he always hate healthy and fresh and cant handle the white starch crap they feed them. My mum takes him out to lunch a couple of times a week as much as she can. Her own boyfreind ( lol) is dealthy sick. prayers appreciated .

All this of course made me think of my own dad and mum and then my own self. Truly life isnt always pretty or happy. Yet we all do our best to accept it. Somtimes it seems more sad than anything. I think tears are good though. healing and real.

so I send my love to all the older ones xxxxx

I'm pretty good. smile.gif There's been a bit of upheaval for me in 2008, which was stressful but ultimately exciting and some of it a bit adventurous for an old chook chick.

Early last week I started on my New Year resolution. Unfortunately, I'd started medicating my insomnia, which I had the feeling was 'dulling' me full-time as time progressed. Anyway, I was feeling NQR most of the time. So as I don't have to get up and go to a job at the moment, I thought I'd ween myself off any bedtime 'assistance', by cutting up pills and taking less and less. It's not easy and I think I'm starting getting past the sensation that things are crawling on me. blink.gif And of course my 'sleep' is kinda vague - zero or crashing for a few hours when I'm totally over-tired. Two days now with NO help. smile.gif Doing relaxation breathing and meditation, etc. Getting there, but I'm sure it will help when things stop crawling on me. huh.gif

On the positive side bigemo_harabe_net-166.gif the edginess makes me more physical so that's a good thing.

So wishing you all a good 2009, and hoping all your problems are easily overcome. Special thoughts for those who are ill, or who have loved ones who are ill and/or ageing.

Off to have an almost cold shower. My creepy crawlies don't like them. tongue.gif So far, my New Year's resolution is working well. whistle.gif

Sorry - NQR means 'not quite right'. Does NSW have Not Quite Right shops? They sell goods that are, um, not quite right. Good stuff. It can just be NQR simply because the label doesn't have a use-by date, or stuff that was produced but the market just didn't take to. Or overseas products that still have overseas language packaging. smile.gif

Edit: I meant to add, it's just agitation, Irene, that I know will pass if I just hang in long enough. And it's not as if I was on something heavy and illegal for a long period of time. Still, it does give me some minor insight as to how difficult it must be to get off a heavy-duty habit. blink.gif

Well, if I can survive this heat for another day in what I'm sure is the hottest unit in Qld, then I'm hoping this year will be a much better one. unsure.gif
What with my sister's cancer & chemotherapy for 9 months of the year, my dear old 88 year old Mum having to be placed very quickly into a nursing home 2 weeks ago, the knowledge that she has a blockage to the heart and is too old & frail to be operated on, that we have to sell her house very quickly to pay for her fees at the home, then I'm thinking that surely this year has to be better than 2008. huh.gif blink.gif
Here's hoping. smile.gif Happy New Year to fellow forumers. bigemo_harabe_net-115.gif

Thats pretty full on stuff to deal with. I hope your 2009 is better xx

Thanks Irene, and Robyn too. smile.gif I know you have both had lots of problems last year too, so I hope 2009 is better for all of us. smile.gif
Mum still talks about going home, but she's slowly settling in. Her dementia can only get worse, so it's for the best she is in the home, being cared for 24 hours a day, than rattling around in that big old house on her own. In a way her collapse was a blessing, because it enabled the doctors to discover the blockage, and to confirm that she needed to go into a nursing home, and never go back to the house. It's sad, but it's for the best. We know Mum is safe now, and that already makes this a better year. smile.gif

Thats good that she is settling in Marlene these things take time. I know your sad hon but its for the best as you say. At least now you know she has 24 hr care and is safe. smile.gif All the best to you hoping this year is better for you. smile.gif

thanks lisa wub_anim.gif wub_anim.gif

I thought at the start of 2008 that i might meet him but it wasnt to be then. I just have a really good feeling about 2009 that this year I will get the things that I have been wanting for ages. I dont know if my thoughts are correct but if they are I will just leave it to god to orchestrate the meeting whenever its going to happen.

I hope you do find that special person too lisa. There are some upsides to being single but there is always a big part of you that hates it.

Me too cause it's driving me nuts.

Tho we were making jokes that the doctor put one of those " i did" bandaids on it...so I did have a wart...I did get it removed...and it did sting like a bizatch...LOL

Or it could work for kids too like for example I did stuff myself up tongue.gif
